Artist statement:

I, Patricia Joyce Baker, am a self-taught artist from Detroit, Michigan. I am a retired Math teacher and Elementary School Administrator. I am a beaded jewelry designer. painter, and writer. I am blessed with two sons, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. I have been in several local exhibits including the recent Anton Art Center exhibition. I am pleased for my work to be in the homes of several noted collectors in and out of state.

I have designed beaded jewelry since 1967 and find that working with patterns and color are relaxing and satisfying. My business, Designs by Patrician, specializes in providing “Jewelry for the Noble”, one of a kind beaded jewelry with an emphasis on Afrocentric pieces. Through the process of beading, painting and drawing, I put aside stress and others’ expectations to experience the moment of NOW and to restore some beauty in life.
