On August 25th, 2020, Matrix Human Services received a generous donation from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) located in Auburn Hills, which will be used to continue our COVID-19 Relief programs and efforts across the organization.

Matrix has been providing food to the community for more than 10 years at our Matrix Center location. On March 20th we increased our capacity of our food distribution to meet the need of the community during the peak of COVID-19 fears and layoffs.

Matrix food distributions take place every other Tuesday on Detroit’s Eastside, 13560 E. McNichols Rd. Read more and watch the video about our emergency food distributions here: https://www.matrixhumanservices.org/news/matrix-finishes-final-emergency-food-distribution-with-gleaners/ . We estimate that 3,500 meals were given to families in need over the course of 7 emergency food distributions with Gleaners from March to the end of June.

“There has never been a more important moment to help children and their families with vital needs in our communities than during this time of great uncertainty,” FCA CEO Mike Manley said, when announcing the company’s commitment (in March) to provide more than 1 million meals to school-age children in North America. Since then, FCA has provided nearly 5 million meals, including more than 2 million meals to children through its partnership with Matrix Human Services and other community service organizations.

Because of the generous support of FCA, we continue to provide food to the community at The Matrix Center every other Tuesday, making sure that those who have faced food insecurity before COVID-19 and after, will always have a reliable place to go to receive quality food when they need it. We regularly receive over 200 families at our Food Tuesday Distributions.
