On July 17th, The Matrix Center Summer Camp kids visited The Detroit Parade Company to get started on their float for the Osborn neighborhood parade a few weeks later. We shared a video on our Facebook and Instagram of their first day there.
But on Friday, August 2nd, it was time to present their creation to the world at the “For the Love of Detroit Osborn Neighborhood Parade” and block party.

The party featured a variety of fun and games, including a parade past The Matrix Center that navigated everyone to the nearby “Butterfly” park. A Dj played music as kids enjoyed free food including snow cones and popcorn, face painting, arts and crafts, a video game bus, and Ford Fund volunteers gave out free backpacks.

Enjoy the images below from the event. The Matrix Center could not be more proud of our Summer Camp kids and their impressive Zoo-themed float!
