Connecting Families (est. 2007) Located in the Matrix
Human Services Center (The Center), Connecting Families offers families,
individuals and youth an array of supportive services that
include Casa Maria, a safe after school program for
youth ages 5-16, adult employment & educational skill building,
family activities and referrals to outside agencies.
A recently awarded Skillman grant allows Connecting Families to provide comprehensive
support services, needs assessments and referrals designed
to break the cycle of poverty. Connecting Families directs
youth, families and adults to programs, both in the Matrix
Human Services Center and the Osborn community, specific to
their needs.
Over the last three years the Connecting Families
program and The Center have accomplished the following:
100% of the participants reported increased family interaction
and participation in community projects
The Center increased Mission Partners to 134
Connecting Families served 500 families (unduplicated)
Connecting Families clients have received over 5000
referrals
200 youth enrolled in after school and summer programs
2000 meals were served during the summer of 2009
81% of youth increased their GPA
83% of youth increased their knowledge of stewardship
and community service
75 youth were employed at The Center
Connecting Families uses the Matrix invented, Transition to Success model, a comprehensive model providing an integrated approach that engages, connects and supports clientele with an extensive array of supports and services in and outside Matrix.
