Since 1925 Barat House, a program in the Barat
Child and Family Services division, has been providing care
to abused, abandoned and neglected girls.
Young ladies that so desperately needed our services in
years past are now being placed with families in the community,
offering them a loving nurturing non-institutional environment.
We are truly proud of the services we have offered to young
women in need and we are also excited about the evolution
of the foster care delivery system in Michigan. Evolutionary
changes in Michigan’s foster care system require that we too
evolve to ensure that our valuable resources are utilized
for maximum efficiencies. To that end, services for young
women in foster care at Barat House are discontinued effective
January 31, 2010. Be assured all residents have been appropriately
placed.
Our legacy includes service to thousands of young women
and as we transition Barat House we look to those in the community
who have dedicated their time and resources to this program
to continue their support of Barat Child and Family Services
at Matrix.
